The JSC Contractor Affairs Safety Committee (CASC) & Contractor Safety & Health Forum (CSF) created the CSF Safety & Health Excellence Award Program to annually recognize contractor organizations that have demonstrated excellence in safety and health and significant participation in JSC safety and health activities. Each JSC contract organization submits an application detailing employee injury rate data, management and employee participation in JSC safety & health activities and safety related best practices and innovations. An Awards Committee consisting of contractor representatives review the submissions to determine if the candidates met the required criteria and if so, the Safety Excellence Awards level. The awards are presented in three levels: Stellar, Nova and Super Nova. The CISS team was cited by the Committee for injury rates 100% below industry averages, 100% participation in CSF, CASC and JSAT functions, coordination of the 2013 JSC Spring Safety Fair and Children’s Safety and Health Calendar Contest, development of the JSC Safer Not Sorry (SNS) safety recognition program and implementation of a JSC Slip, Trip and Fall Awareness Campaign.
